“It was Detroit or nowhere.”
You probably haven’t been to a wine bar quite like Motor City Wine. Located on Michigan Ave in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit, it is “Detroit style”- raw and unpretentious. A place where you can enjoy a nice hand picked glass of wine but not break the bank. Normally, you would have to go to an expensive restaurant for the selection and service that is offered.
David and Melissa Armin-Parcells own and run the bar that recently relocated from their previous location on Woodward in Downtown Detroit and are ardent supporters of the city, locating here because “It was Detroit, or nowhere”. They are among an emerging group of entrepreneurs fervently reclaiming the historic Michigan Ave corridor outside of Downtown from the blight and emptiness of the past few decades. Simply put- they see opportunity here.
During our chat David reminded us, “Don’t believe the demographics. Those look really terrible when you look at them. They are getting better, but things are really happening here and we have certainly enjoyed having a business here.” Melissa added. “There are a lot of people in this city and they are very supportive.”
